I’ve always loved comedy — though I didn’t know, growing up watching Only Fools, Red Dwarf, Harry Enfield & Chums, and Friends, that I’d one day work in this world. Even better, I’ve met (and sometimes worked with) the geniuses behind them.

Most recently, I was a script editor on Geek Girl for Netflix — a beautiful, heartfelt show that approaches neurodiversity with warmth and honesty. Before that, I was Head of Scripted at Ranga Bee Productions (with Romesh Ranganathan as my boss — yes, it was as fun as it sounds). I developed comedy and drama and exec produced Avoidance (BBC1), Romantic Getaway (Sky), The Other Half (Dave), and Sky Shorts including Seen, Real Friends and Past Caring.

My TV journey started not at the BBC — though I spent 14 wonderful years there — but in 1999, as a runner on Trisha. I’d trained to be an accountant (spoiler: I hated it), and that first experience on a TV set made it clear I had been in the wrong profession — and was now in the right place.

At the BBC, I produced shows including Peter Pan Goes Wrong, Mister Winner, Whites, Bluestone 42, and Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps. I launched BBC Comedy Presents, born of my love for live comedy (thanks, Lee Evans). We had stellar hosts — Miranda Hart, James Corden, Russell Howard, Lenny Henry, Vic & Bob, French & Saunders, and many more — alongside rising stars.

I’ve also worked with indies including Expectation (developing the Alma’s Not Normal pilot), What Larks!, Raconteur Studios and Pale Rebel Productions.

And yes, I once managed to shoot three series of a comedy set in war-torn Afghanistan on the backlot of a winery in Franschhoek, South Africa. (Still one of my proudest logistical achievements.)
